IRRADIATION OF AN URANIUM SILICIDE FUEL ELEMENT
PROTOTYPE IN RA-3 REACTOR

Ruben Calabrese, Guillermo Estryk, Carla Notari

Comision Nacional de Energia Atomica
Republica Argentina

ABSTRACT

A uranium silicide fuel element prototype was fabricated in the Argentine Republic and introduced in the RA-3 reactor on April this year. Cell and overall reactor calculations were performed in order to confirm that the reactor operation limits were not surpassed. Neutron fluxes were measured in the silicide prototype and compared with calculated values.
